Q1 Pep Rally!

This afternoon's pep rally was a high energy collective conclusion to quarter one!  We heard performances from the East Prairie band and choir, while also competing in hamster wheel races and mummy competitions.

Thank you to Student Council for speaking to our shared goals and desire to "be your best self."  In all, over 150 students were involved in the pep rally, its planning and execution.

And of course our all school "Steppin' with Stepney" dance party finale!!!

Beginning Band!

We did it!  Our first Full Band Rehearsal for Beginning Band was a success!  We played our first three notes and our first song, Hot Cross Buns.  An instant classic!

Students worked together as a group to practice their perfect posture, resting position, playing position and starting together as a band.

It was all a huge accomplishment so early in the year!

Be Kind!

“Maybe I can only do small things.

But my small things might join small things other people do.

And together, they could grow into something big."

After a most successful rollout last year, we are excited to continue our “One School, One Read Aloud” series as part of our work supporting social and emotional wellbeing.  Reading a book across the entire school provides a common and shared experience for every child and adult, sparking a community wide conversation.  All classrooms will be given the same book that supports the SEL skills addressed within each of the five units of study.  Our hope is that these conversations extend beyond the classroom into homes, across families, and well beyond our East Prairie community.  Our aim is to further establish a culture of literacy developed in partnership between the home and school, as well as, promote a shared message of compassion, kindness, and empathy.  This will bring us even closer together as a community so we can read, learn, and grow – together.

Community!

Thank you to our families, teachers, and community partnerships for coming together for our annual Curriculum Night!  This event is an important opportunity for us to connect and get collectively clear on the goals we have for the school year.  Thank you to the many community organizations and agencies that partnered with us to share information, resources, and above all care with our families.  We are truly fortunate to be part of such a compassionate, connected, and supportive community.

The Power of Goals

“There is no getting around the fact that the only measure of a great team - or a great organization - is whether it accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish… When it comes to how a cohesive team measures its performance, one criterion sets it apart from noncohesive ones;

 Its goals are shared across the entire team.
