Essential Learning

What is it we want our students to learn?

This question is foundational to our collaborative work as educators and a school community.  Our fundamental purpose as a school is to ensure that all students learn at high levels.  At East Prairie we strive to achieve this within an environment that is nurturing, caring, and inclusive.

Ensuring clarity on what ALL students will learn (not just what we will teach) is critical for ensuring the growth and achievement of every child.  As such, essential standards are the standards we as a school community are ensuring ALL students will know and be able to do at the end of the year.

Here is a link to East Prairie’s essential standards for math and reading, preschool through eighth grade.  In this document you will find the most important learning at each grade level highlighted and broken down into family friendly language - “I Can” statements.  Please note this is an ongoing work in progress and will continue to be updated with time.  Additional content areas and courses will be mapped out over time as well.

We recognize, appreciate, and value your incredible partnership on this shared journey of educating your child - we want to make sure that you have every resource and piece of information available to help support you along the way.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher or any member of our team with any questions at any point in time.

Our return to in-person learning!

Welcoming our youngest panthers back to school for in-person learning was the perfect way to kick off the week.

"I forgot how beautiful our school is" quoted one of our returning first graders.
It was uplifting and inspiring to see students in class engaged in learning with their outstanding teachers and classmates. #pantherpride
