Paintin' the Prairie Next Week!

On June 1st we will hold the first ever “Paint the Prairie” outdoor art extravaganza.  Please join us in the courtyard after our final PTA meeting for an evening of incredible student created artwork projected onto the beautiful canvas that is East Prairie School.  Here is a digital rendering of what we believe this experience will be like (actually evening forecast subject to change).

Students wanting to display artwork in the show should send their masterpieces to Dr. Schmeisser (hschmeisser@eps73.net) by this Friday, May 28th.  The exhibit will be open to all families from approximately 8:15-9:30PM.  Here is a preview of some already submitted masterpieces.

We are EPS!

Thank you Mrs. Smith, Ms. Wydmanski, and Mr. Nissan for hosting an extraordinary BPAC/TPI Spring Fling Picnic.  Thank you to our incredible students and families for your unwavering support, involvement, and care. The energy was contagious as our kids, families, and teachers came together in-person for the first time in a long time!

Thank you Mrs. Smeeton & Mrs. Rosenberg for bringing the East Prairie Class of 2017 back together!  The students’ excitement and enthusiasm speaks volumes to the impact their teachers and this community have had on them - most inspirational!

It is these connections and moments that make East Prairie the truly unique school community that it is!

Paint the Prairie!

Immersive Van Gogh?  Art on the Mart?  While certainly incredible experiences, these artistic adventures have nothing on the collective imagination and talent of our East Prairie painters, sculptors, sketchers, and creators.  That being said, we are excited to invite you to the first ever “Paint the Prairie” outdoor art extravaganza.  Please join us in the courtyard after our final PTA meeting on Tuesday, June 1st for an evening of incredible student created artwork projected onto the beautiful canvas that is East Prairie School.

Keenly aware of the ongoing challenges and impact of the pandemic upon many of our children and families, we committed to think creatively about how to best sustain ongoing academic and social-emotional growth for our students.  Here is an overview of our FREE plans, open to all - current kindergarten through 7th grade students and families.

Here is a link to sign-up and register your child for our “Panther Power-Up” summer program.  Please complete this form by this Friday, May 14th.  Once our numbers are finalized, we will follow-up with each registered family to share your summer teacher and other logistical information.  Please reach out to your child's teacher or Dr. Schmeisser with any questions.

Conversations Around Race & Ethnicity

“Beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by its affirmation, by each of us claiming the identities and cultural legacies that shape who we are and how we live in the world.”

- bell hooks

Please join us for a new PTA sponsored program of informal conversations to learn and share experiences around race and ethnicities. The first Conversations Around Race & Ethnicity (CARE) program will be held in the Atrium at 6:00 the evening of Tuesday, May 18th.  The goal of this program is to bring our community closer together by raising cultural awareness.  Each session will begin with a speaker, followed by guided conversation and discussion from the participants.  Through intimate discussion and the sharing of lived experiences we hope to both learn something new and apply that learning towards having a positive impact in our school and broader community.  This group is open to all families, please email Joe Saucedo (josephasaucedo@gmail.com) to register and join.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
