Thank you for the trust and confidence that you place in us each day.  East Prairie is a truly special and unique school community because of these connections.  We are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to do the work we love and for those whom we share it with.  On behalf of our staff, we wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving!

Construction update

Construction on the "front yard" took a big step forward today with the curbs of the circle drive getting put in.  It was particularly wonderful to talk with some of our fourth grade students at the window about radius, diameter, and finding the area of a circle.  

Talk about making math meaningful and applying it to your everyday life.  What a neat project to watch happen in real time and to be a part of!

That's My Story!

Thank you to the Niles North Theatre program for coming to East Prairie to present That's My Story!  Congratulations to our student playwrights - Anthony, Ayaan, Noelle, Sophia, Elissa, Syeda, Chloe, and Talia - on the selection of their work to be included in the show.  

Talk about writing for a broader audience...amazing!  Thank you to Ms. deBettencourt for coordinating this outstanding opportunity!

Larry Plotkin dedication ceremony

In a special ceremony last night, the East Prairie School Boardroom was dedicated in honor of Sidney “Larry” Plotkin. 

Larry’s involvement in the East Prairie School Board spanned four decades. Larry helped to lead East Prairie towards innovative practices while maintaining responsible financial stewardship. 

Larry Plotkin represents the very best qualities of leadership and service to others. It is most fitting that the boardroom carry his name for all to honor his lasting legacy.

Bringing home the hardware!

The trophies commemorating the boys varsity soccer championships for both the regular season and conference tournament arrived today!  They are a fantastic addition to our new trophy cases!

Preschool at Night

Thank you to the many families that came out to our "Preschool at Night" program for families.  The evening featured sessions on music, reading strategies, and social emotional learning.

Thank you to Ms. LaPata, Ms. Hernandez, Mrs. Simkins, and Mrs. Rosenberg for organizing such an important and impacting opportunity for our youngest Panthers and their families.

Panthers & Vikings

Thank you to the Niles North varsity football team and Coach Mark for coming out to East Prairie and leading a skills clinic with our 4th through 8th grade student athletes.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect our two schools, and for students to work with role models within our own community.

Earlier in the week, varsity athletes and Athletic Director Brett Bildstein were at EPS during lunches to raise awareness and talk up Girls Play Sports.  We look forward to building upon this initial programming to foster an even strong partnership with Niles North High School.

Keep an eye out.  The NN football team of 2025 is expected to be pretty good!

Pump up the pep!

Last Friday afternoon was our first pep rally of the new school year! It was a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate our many accomplishments!

There were student and staff recognitions, dance performances, student speeches, the band leading an all school sing-along of the East Prairie school song, and even a pie surprise (thank you, Mr. Stephen)! 

It was a wonderful way to wrap-up what has been a sensational first quarter and start to the school year!
