Being together is what “counts”

Thank you to the PTA and Mathnasium of Evanston-Skokie for partnering to provide our students and families with an outstanding math night!  Thank you to the “multitude” of children and families who came out to have some fun.  Nothing can “divide” us!

Professional Learning

Thank you to Mrs. Clapper, Mrs. Gavin, Mrs. DeCamp, Mrs. Dovijarov, Mrs. Bart, Mrs. Graham, and Ms. Tom for sharing their knowledge, expertise, and practice with our staff.

Today's faculty meeting was a superb example of job-embedded professional development  We had excellent collaborative sessions on student choice, anchor charts, building background knowledge/vocabulary, and small group instruction.

The Panther Dash is Back!!!

The Panther Dash is the PTA’s annual spring fundraiser, a student fitness event that gives our East Prairie community an energetic way to raise money for the PTA while having fun with their fellow students! This “fun run” encourages a healthy and active lifestyle for all our students while supporting the PTA. Dash Day is Friday, May 13th!

This year, the PTA has a fundraising goal of $15,000. During the pandemic, the PTA continued to provide enriching activities and support for the East Prairie community without any direct fundraising. They need your help to continue their efforts with PTA-sponsored programs and activities such as the Cultural Arts assemblies, International Night, Art Night, and more!

Donations can be made online through the PTA’s secure pledge platform at: https://app.memberhub.gives/pantherdash2022

Share the link with family and friends! This is a community effort to support our students – family members are our best donors! Cash donations can be made using the attached pledge form. Flyers with more information will be going home this week.

Will there be prizes? YES! Just to name a few…

The classroom that raises the most donations wins a pizza party!

If the $15,000 goal is met, the PTA will host a donut breakfast for the whole school!

All students receive a FREE Dash Day t-shirt!

Check out the online fundraising page for additional prizes.

DONATE TODAY! The first 25 students with an online donation will receive an EPS car magnet.

Thank you for your support and donation to the PTA! We appreciate you!

We are East Prairie!

East Prairie is an extraordinary place for kids to go to school!  It is also a fantastic place to come to work!  Wanting to make sure that we continue to recruit the very best educators for our school community we have put together this brief video

We hope it helps you to see a bit more of what we value, celebrate, and work on.  Thank you (and your children) for making East Prairie the very special place it is!

Pump the Pep!!!

This afternoon we came together by grade level bands for our first pep rally in nearly two and half years.  We celebrated a very successful first three quarters of school the year and got everyone pumped up for a fantastic finish!  We kicked things off with a large laugh as students and teachers competed in some “Minute to Win It” games, heard from the leadership of our Student Council, and even did an Encanto sing-along - “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” of course.

Passport please

Thank you to the PTA for hosting a very festive and fun International Craft Night yesterday evening.

Kids and their families crafted their way around the world, creating treasures like aboriginal kangaroo art, dream catchers, personalized henna creations, and Latin American sun art.

It was wonderful to create, connect, and learn alongside one another - in-person!  We are excited for the opportunity - like this - to build back outstanding programming for families and connect as a community.

Our Published Authors!

East Prairie School is a proud participant in the State's annual Young Authors’ Conference.  This event is designed as a celebration to honor exceptional writing by students in grades K through 8, the conference provides an opportunity for these young writers to meet published authors and to hear how the authors themselves create the characters and stories that have become their books.

This literary event is sponsored by the Illinois Language and Literacy Council, in conjunction with the Illinois Reading Council, and is typically held in-person in Normal, IL - is an event.  Though the event has been canceled the past two years, Mrs. Mehr and our team of teachers have again stepped up to fill in the gap and ensure a positive and uplifting experience for our writers.

We brought the event to East Prairie and recognized all of our amazing authors! Thank you to Mrs. Mehr for creatively recognizing and celebrating our Young Authors!  Thank you to the many teachers who helped students bring their literary ideas to fruition and write for a broader audience.
